ANDREAS ECONOMIDES

PSYCHOTHERAPIST

Finding the right therapist is a significant step, and I believe the foundation of any successful therapy is a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental relationship. As an integrative psychotherapist, I don't believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach. Instead, I draw from various evidence-based traditions to honor your unique history, personality, and goals.

I work with individual adults and teenagers navigating a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, bereavement, and relationship issues. My clinical focus and specialized training lie in supporting those healing from shame and trauma, as well as providing neuro-affirming care for neurodivergent individuals.

What is Relational Integrative Psychotherapy?

Integrative therapy is more than just using different techniques; it is a sophisticated framework that brings together various psychological theories into a unified approach. By combining the strengths of different models, we can address your concerns on multiple levels: your thoughts (CBT), your deep-seated patterns (Psychodynamic), your internal system (IFS), and your physiological processing of trauma (EMDR).

I practice from a relational integrative perspective. This means I view the "here-and-now" relationship between us as a vital tool for healing. For many, emotional pain starts in relationships; therefore, it can be healed through a new, consistent, and supportive relationship. Our sessions provide a safe "laboratory" to explore how you relate to yourself and others, allowing you to experience being truly seen and heard.

Depending on your needs, we may weave together elements from the following approaches:

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS): We look at the "parts" of your personality—like the inner critic or the part that feels anxious—to understand their roles and help you lead from your "Self" with compassion and curiosity.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A powerful, evidence-led approach for processing traumatic memories or "stuck" emotions, allowing the brain to resume its natural healing process.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helpful for identifying and shifting specific thought patterns and behaviors that keep you stuck in cycles of anxiety or low mood.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy: We explore how your past experiences and early relationships shape your current world, bringing unconscious patterns into awareness so you have more freedom to choose your future.

Therapeutic Toolkit

  • Shame & Trauma: Shame often acts as a silent barrier to healing. I provide a trauma-informed space where we can gently dismantle shame and process the underlying experiences that created it.

  • Neurodivergence: I offer neuro-affirming therapy for Autistic and ADHD individuals (including those self-diagnosed). My approach focuses on understanding your unique nervous system, advocating for your needs, and moving away from "masking" toward authentic self-acceptance.

Specialisms

You might wonder if using multiple methods feels disjointed. In practice, it feels comprehensive. By being integrative, I can pivot when we hit a roadblock. If talking about the past feels too heavy, we might use CBT for immediate coping skills. If you understand your problems intellectually but still feel the pain in your body, we might use EMDR or IFS to reach those deeper layers.

This approach ensures that you remain the centre of the work, not the theory. We go at your pace, constantly checking in to ensure the therapy feels relevant and helpful to you.
