Hello, I'm Andreas Economides MA MBACP, a counsellor and psychotherapist based in London. I offer individual therapy for adults and adolescents (16+) in Angel on Mondays 2pm - 9pm, Tuesdays 7:30am - 1pm and Thursdays 7:30am - 12pm. I also offer therapy online and by telephone.
I've worked for a number of years in the NHS, charities and in private practice, so I'm experienced in dealing with a wide range of psychological issues. I believe that therapy should be accessible to all people and that is why I try to keep my fees as low as possible.

I have a BACP accredited Masters degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and a BPS accredited Degree in Psychology. As an integrative psychotherapist, I have trained in various therapeutic models, including Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive approaches, which I draw upon depending on the client’s needs.
You may be thinking about therapy because you have a particular concern or you may just feel that something isn't right in your life. Whatever your reason, my aim is to provide a safe, supportive and confidential space where you can feel free to talk about your concerns without fear of judgment. Together, we can explore and process difficult thoughts and emotions to help you make more sense of your current problems. With greater self-awareness and self-acceptance, you have the opportunity to change how you respond to these difficulties and to build better coping mechanisms.
I describe my way of working as relational because there is an emphasis on the relationship between the client and therapist. Research continuously shows that the better the relationship, the more likely it is that therapy will be successful. That's why it's also important to meet with several therapists first, before deciding on one, to see who feels more right for you.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in management and teaching. In both of these careers, what I enjoyed most was creating environments that allowed people to grow and flourish, which is what led me to psychotherapy. These experiences have allowed me to understand how hard it can be to struggle with personal issues while working in demanding and competitive environments.

I charge £50 per session, which lasts for 50 minutes. Sessions are usually once per week but other arrangements can be discussed.
Psychotherapy is often long-term and can last a number of years, while counselling often lasts between 6 sessions and a year.
As a member of the BACP, I respect and protect the confidentiality and privacy of all my clients. However, there are some ethical and legal limitations to this. For example, when protecting a client or others from serious harm. The need to share information with a third party will always be discussed with the client first.
This is very much the client's decision. Some people choose to have a few sessions, whereas others find it useful to have open-ended therapy. Clients can choose to stop whenever they feel it's best for them, there are no obligations
There are many types of therapy out there, ranging from the Freudian to modern integrative models. However, the research shows that the key to effectiveness is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. That's why it may be good to book a session with a number of therapists, so that you can choose who you think you have a better connection with.
The past is important and so is the present for understanding how old narratives are replayed in current relationships and situations. Often, the discussion will involve both past and current experiences.
There is a lot of evidence that therapy can be useful in dealing with many psychological issues. In my view, therapy cannot fix you but it can help you process difficult thoughts and feelings, uncover and examine beliefs, develop new perspectives and coping strategies.
